Central Coast artist Ann McMillan began oil painting five years ago after studying drawing, science illustration and watercolor painting since childhood. After graduating from University of California, Santa Cruz as a biologist in 1997, Ann discovered her love for en plein air painting while working as a field researcher in the Sierra. She most enjoys painting the Central Coast, the Sierra, Big Sur and the San Francisco Bay estuaries and frequently incorporates figures into her landscapes. Her recent trip to Spain has yielded many paintings of Cathedrals and medieval towns. Ann has studied with several local artists including Barry Raybould and Brigitte Curt. Her work is exhibited at the Eriksen Gallery in Half Moon Bay and on her website at www.amgallery.net.
